Carol taylor
EDITORIAL DIRECTOR
I've been in commercial book publishing for over 25 years. I started as a Random House book editor, acquiring commercial fiction and nonfiction with a specialization in multicultural, international, progressive, and woman-centric work. In my time in the book world, I’ve worked as an editor, co-author, book doctor, and ghostwriter with many of today’s top literary and commercial writers, noted academics, public figures, and celebrities. As editorial director at McKinnon Literary, I focus on editorial strategy and conceptual development, and act as a liaison between our clients and their publishers.
I also teach Introduction to Publishing and The Editorial Process in the Publishing Certificate Program at City College. At New York University, I taught Creative Writing and Introduction to Publishing in the School of Professional Studies. I’ve also written ten books, which explore race, family, relationships, love, culture and their intersection. I was born in Kingston, Jamaica and have traveled widely. These travels have informed my perspective on the world and my place in it, as a black woman, and an immigrant.
