Philip Kadish is Adjunct Assistant Professor of English at Hunter College in New York City. He received his PhD in American Literature from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York and his MFA in fiction writing from Brooklyn College. He teaches courses on multicultural American literature, Critical Race and Ethnicity Studies, and Whiteness Studies. His research looks at the role of scientific theories of race in shaping American culture from literature and popular culture to law, politics, and public policy. He has presented his research at Yale, Princeton, Notre Dame, Georgetown, and numerous other universities. His op-eds connecting contemporary racial issues to their roots in nineteenth-century American culture have appeared on CNN.com and NBC.com. His first book, the Great White Hoax, is forthcoming from the New Press.
